Every time they would be asked about it, they would call it a “celebration” when in fact, this whole era has been a hot mess. However, I will say that Confetti is an amazing pop album but it seems very basic? I was so excited to hear the new album, thinking it would be better than LM5 but holy, it’ll take a lot to top LM5. The album cover was tacky, their outfits in the photoshoots have had no relation to “Confetti” AT ALL.

We’re in this so called “Confetti era” but it just seems all over the place. With Confetti, there was no cohesion with their photo shoots whatsoever. With the rest of their albums, there was a constant theme that was prevalent throughout their promotions, music videos & photo shoots. But to go from LM5 to Confetti - that was a huge step down. With all their albums, they just kept elevating. I very much wonder if their American label blacklisted them from working with American producers and if Syco never had the pull or the desire to put them in touch with anyone else. Lastly, I like Camille’s songwriting and MNEK’s production and TLS and everyone else they work with but we need new blood.

Which I do think he was directing at her. I think people want it to be about Jesy because of his other tweet about blackfishing. I honestly do not think MNEK was shading Jesy when he said that “The Confetti single is the truth hun” I think he was just hyping the girls and trying to hype the single which is what he always does when he produces a song. They would have burned it like Joan of Arc. I think they could have used the concept for another video but let’s face it, the label was never going to give them a video for Woman’s World. That narrative is exhausting, childish and stupid.

I personally have missed weddings and baby showers for a variety of reasons but under no circumstance does that mean I didn’t want to be there. They have lives outside the band and each other and it’s crazy people overanalyze every single thing they do and see it as “evidence” that they aren’t friends. I do think they are friends and sisters who love each other but I also don’t think they need to hang out 24/7 and be at each other’s houses and events all the time. I wish they would own up to their shit instead of ignoring crap that they do that are clearly fucking offensive. Preferably the RnB because I think that’s where they shine especially with their songwriting and vocals. It’s chaotic and confusing and I wish they would either learn to blend the two styles well or pick one. Salute & LM5) they follow it up with an overly pop album.

Plus there’s some catchy pop in there but it was a step down from LM5.Įvery time they do an RnB album (i.e. I liked the Confetti album because it’s fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It sounds so needy and desperate and sad. They get away with a lot of problematic things and have never truly been held accountable. It makes all of that other stuff seem less genuine to others bc she’s putting herself right back in that position. I also did NOT like the constant scapegoating of the other girls for the hate and bullying.Įveryone’s always saying “Jesy just said she was leaving she never said she was taking a break”, but after her saying how miserable she was, how comparison hurt her, how much happier she was at home, and the whole documentary being about trolls and haters, her leaving the spotlight was a safe assumption to make and I think it’s fair for others to feel betrayed by her going solo. I feel for Jesy, of course, but I feel like the way she wrote her narrative (as the odd one out and the hate being a product of comparison to the others) made it impossible for the girls to open up about or even reflect on any of their own issues they might have had in the group. Yes they’re mismanaged in the States, but the fact of the matter is that their music also isn’t fitting in anywhere on the rest of the charts (which are skewing rap, rnb, and that retro/groovy vibe bruno and the weeknd are on). They’re extremely talented and it’s being wasted on outdated bubblegum/kiddy pop. Also, I def think there’s bad blood between them and Jesy or was at some point. The girls are more casual friends than they try to appear to be.
